SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER’S TRAINING PROGRAMS: INPUTS TO POLICY RECOMMENDATIONS

Abstract: Quality education is so important and crucial that most of our time is spent on reading, learning, understanding and comprehension. In this regard, all countries in the world are investing so much time effort and resources on quality education in order to improve our society. The study sought to assess the level of implementation of senior high school teacher’s training programs for school year 2016-2019. The research data gathering included school year 2016 – 2019. The research was limited only among senior high school teachers in public secondary schools in SDO – Ilocos Sur. The study used a descriptive correlation design since it establishes associations between variables. The study used a questionnaire to assess the implementation of the teachers training program of the SDO Ilocos Sur. The researcher utilized stratified type of sampling in selecting the respondents. Significant findings revealed that computed mean of 4.19 showed that there is a high level of implementation of the SHS Teachers’ training program. The study strongly recommends the maximum implementation of the SHS Training program to ensure better results in improving their morale, performance and engagement. Likewise, the policy recommendation is strongly recommended to provide better professional advance and development to all senior high school teachers.

INVOLVEMENT OF STAKEHOLDERS TO THE PERFORMANCE OF PUBLIC ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN SCHOOLS DIVISION OF ILOCOS SUR

Abstract: Basic education is intended to meet basic learning needs which provides the foundation on which subsequent learning can be based. The study is to determine the relationship of the extent of involvement of various stakeholders and the performance of public elementary schools in the Schools Division of Ilocos Sur. The researcher used complete enumeration of all qualified school heads of public elementary schools in SDO Ilocos Sur. The research used a questionnaire to gather the data on the extent of the contribution of various stakeholders in the management and operations of public elementary school in SDO Ilocos Sur.\r\nSignificant results of the study revealed that the parents, alumni, non-government organizations and local government office contributes to the great extent in the management and operations of the public schools in SDO Ilocos Sur. Furthermore, the NAT results are interpreted as average, the enrollment rate is considerably high, the drop-out rate is very low and the graduation rate is at its very high level. Furthermore, there is a significant relationship between the participation of parents to the enrollment rate and graduation rate of the learners. \r\nThe study recommends that the public schools through the school heads will collaboratively engage with the members of the community to improve the NAT results, graduation and enrollment rate and reduce the drop-out rates, and to improve the communication between the school and the community to make them part of the school operations to increase the learning outcomes and achievements of the school.

LIFE IS A ROLLERCOASTER: MALE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL LEARNERS IMPREGNATING THEIR FEMALES CLASSMATES

Abstract: Teen-age pregnancy is a threat and the magnitude of its effects continues to affect the country and its people. The teenager, both the pregnant and the one who induced the pregnancy, are victims. The study carried out a phenomenology on the experiences of 14 male senior high school students who impregnated their female classmates in the same school where they are enrolled. Purposive type of sampling was used using the following inclusion criteria: (1) high school learners of the SDO Ilocos Sur, (2) male (3) with parents’ consent and (4) willing to participate as a respondent od the study. The researcher used the interview guide to gather the data. This was recorded and transcribed to extract the significant statements and meaning. The researcher analyzed the qualitative data that were gathered from the fourteen (14) participants. The data were analyzed using Husserl’s (2009) phenomenological steps. Significant findings revealed the emergence of seven (7) major themes. These major themes are supported by sub-themes and significant statement. The following are the major themes: (1) Celebration of Life, (2) Education Not a Priority, (3) Squandered Efforts of Parents, (4) Deluge of Emotions, (5) Burdens of a Young Father, (6) The Dark Side of Teenage Pregnancy, and (7) Silver Linings of a Teenage Pregnancy. The study strongly recommends comprehensive sex education focusing on holistic understanding of sexual abstinence, contraceptive techniques and its appropriate consequences.

IMPROVING THE PERFORMANCE OF THE GRADE V LEARNERS IN EDUKASYON SA PAGPAPAKATAO IN TAKING CARE THE ENVIRONMENT WORKSHEET”

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the use of the worksheets in teaching Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao among Grade 5 learners of Urzadan Elementary School during the third quarter, School Year 2020-2021. A teacher made test was used in determining the performance of the Grade 5 learners of Urzadan Elementary School. The mean is employed to compare the scores of the learners’ performances. The researcher found out that the learners needed to improve their performance in Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao through the results of their written tasks and performance tasks. When the problem was recognized, the researcher provided 60-item teacher made test containing the learning competencies on how to take care the environment. The mean of the learners’ pretest was 30.571 with a descriptive rating of Satisfactory while the posttest was very satisfactory with a mean of 39.714. There is a mean difference of 9.143. The computed t-value was 3.482 with a t-prob of .001, this means that there is a significant difference existed between scores of the Grade 5 learners during the pretest and posttest. This implies that the Worksheets on how to take care the environment is effective in improving the performance of the learners. \r\n The researchers recommend that teachers should use Worksheets in improving the performance of the learners and it should be properly guided and administered by the teacher to gain higher achievement.

COMPUTER AIDED INSTRUCTION (CAI) IN IMPROVING READING ABILITY SKILLS OF GRADE-II PUPILS

Abstract: The researcher delved upon the endeavor to enhance the reading ability using “Computer Aided Instruction (CAI)” of the grade 2 pupils of Sta. Lucia South Central School in the District of Sta. Lucia for the school year 2020-2021.\r\n\r\nMoreover, a 20-item validated pre-test was administered to all the learners to gauge relevant data before the implementation of the intervention. Thus, it had been found out that The findings served as bases for the researcher to develop an intervention material which is Computer Aided Instruction (CAI).\r\n\r\nThe “CAI” was validated by the division personnel before it was distributed to the learners through an online platform for their utilization. The post-test was then administered to harness data to describe the learners’ level of reading ability after the implementation of CAI. Consequently, collected data illuminates that the performance of the participants in the post-test had significantly improved and can be described as Satisfacotry. Furthermore, after the employment of the T-test on the data, it showed that there is a significant difference in the learners’ tests which implies that the intervention is effective in enhancing the level reading ability of grade 2 pupils.

ELIMINATING MODULAR DISTANCE LEARNING PROBLEMS THROUGH THE INTEGRATION OF MELC-BASED EDUCATIONAL VIDEOS

Abstract: This action research intended to find out whether or not the integration of Educational Videos can eliminate modular learning problems of Kindergarten Pupils of Bantay East Central School of SY 2021-2022. It also aimed to improve the level of motivation of pupils and level of performance as found out that there is a low motivation and low performance of pupils in modular learning due to a number of learning problems encountered.\r\n The research was conducted remotely and virtually through google meetings to meet the minimum health protocols from June-October 2021. The participants were the 40- kindergartners including their parents and/or guardians. These participants attended online meetings to better administer tests and to be guided properly with the about of the research. They were oriented as to how they administer each test and how and when they integrate the educational videos. Administration of the tests were done virtually with the guidance and assistance of the researcher herself.\r\n Data were collected through surveys via google forms, interviews via google meet and test results from pretest and posttest.\r\nThe Descriptive Method or Design was used in this research to answer the main research questions. This method was appropriate because it allowed the researcher to compare the results of the Pretest and posttest of the Integration of MELC-Based Educational videos. Moreover, it employed a pre-experimental research particularly one-shot case study. It allowed the researcher to determine the level of motivation of pupils whether it is low or high.\r\nAccording to the findings, there is a significant difference in the pretest (sole use of modules) and posttest (With the integration of educational videos) of the kindergarten pupils of Bantay East Central School, SY 2021-2022.\r\nThe Researcher is confident that based on the computed significant difference, the integration of educational videos in the modular learning of pupils particularly in the Kindergarten level is useful and impactful, therefore eliminating the modular learning problems as mentioned earlier in the Context and Rationale.

Translanguaging: Bridging the Reading Comprehension Gap in Second Language Acquisition of Grade 12 Learners

Abstract: This study specifically aimed to bridge the reading comprehension gap in second language acquisition of Grade 12 General Academic Strand Section A learners through translanguaging at Teodoro Hernaez National High School during the School Year 2022–2023. Additionally, data was gathered using a validated questionnaire developed by the researcher. Furthermore, mean and t-test were used to evaluate the data. According to the study\'s findings, the learners who utilized the translanguaging strategy performed better in reading comprehension in second language acquisition. Likewise, the calculated t-value showed significant difference in the learners\' level of reading comprehension skills before and after the intervention. Therefore, using translanguaging in improving the reading comprehension skills of the General Academic Strand learners is efficient.

Kabisaan ng Paggamit ng Prosesong Pagdulog sa Pagpapaunlad sa Masining na Pagsulat ng mga Mag-aaral sa Baitang 11

Abstract: Natiyak sa pag-aaral na ito ang kabisaan ng prosesong pagdulog sa pagsulat ng mga mag-aaral sa Filipino. Binigyang-tugon ng pag-aaral na ito ang kahilingan ng Kalihim ng Kagawaran ng Edukasyon ang agenda MATATAG: “Bansang Makabata, Batang Makabansa”. Eksperimental at palarawang pamamaraan ng pananaliksik. Ang mga respondent ay 58 mag-aaral sa Baitang 11-STEM na kinabibilangan ng experimental group at controlled group. Ang interbensiyon ay ibinatay sa pagbabasa at pag-unawa ng mga akda at pagkatapos ay bumuo ang mga mag-aaral ng kanilang sariling sulatin. Inihambing ang paunang pagsusulit ng experimental at controlled group. Ipinagamit sa experimental group ang prosesong pagdulog at muling pinaghambing ang mga panapos na pagsusulit. Napatunayan na tumaas ang antas ng kasanayan sa pagsulat ng mga mag-aaral dahil sa pagtaas ng kanilang mean score at mula sa Lubhang mahina na naging Lubhang Mahusay pagkatapos maisagawa ang pagsusulat gamit ang prosesong pagdulog.

Enhancing the Cinematography Skills of SPA Media Arts Students through Three-Lighting Styles Technique

Abstract: This study sought to enhance the performance of the Grade 10 SPA Media Arts students of Alaminos City National High School in Cinematography. This study is action research and utilized the single group-pretest-posttest design. Students in tenth grade were chosen for this study due to their combined filmmaking experience and the fact that their prior group project, "Hello," demonstrated a lack of cinematography skills. The researcher-teacher therefore made use of the Purposive Sampling method.\r\n\r\nThe teacher-researcher utilized weekly sessions in Three Point Lighting Styles Techniques to enhance the Cinematography skills of the Students. After the conduct of the intervention, the students reproduced the short film “HELLO”. The evaluators from the North Luzon Cinema Guild again assessed the post-intervention output of the students to identify their improvement in their cinematography skills. The results in the pre-intervention and post-intervention evaluations indicated a 136.364% increase in the functional lighting skills; 116.67% in creative lighting skills; 38.39% in basic camera work and in 50% creative camera work. The overall cinematography skills increased by 66.67%. This means that the result in the post-intervention evaluation is higher than the scores of the students in the pre-intervention evaluation. The use of the Three Lighting Styles had a positive impact of student’s cinematography skills in their shots. The results indicate further that the cinematography of the students in the reproduced film have more powerful impact on emotional response. Audiences experience higher levels of emotional response and sense of realism and believability when there is lighting that congruent with the storyline.

Improving the Proficiency Level of Learners on Elements of Music through Interdisciplinary Approach

Abstract: Prioritizing the development of higher-level thinking skills in education is crucial, as it cultivates intellectual curiosity, problem-solving abilities, and critical reasoning, enabling individuals to navigate complex challenges and contribute effectively to a rapidly evolving global society. Hence, this study focused on the assessment of an interdisciplinary teaching approach in enhancing the learning proficiency of enrolled Grades 7 and 8 Special Program in the Arts (SPA) music majors at City of Batac National High School Poblacion for the School Year 2022-2023. The study employed t-tests to analyze data collected before and after the intervention. The findings reveal that the students in the experimental group, who received the interdisciplinary approach, demonstrated significant improvements in their learning proficiency levels compared to the control group. This suggests that the rn intervention had a positive and substantial effect on the musical education of the participants. Furthermore, the results underscore the importance of incorporating interdisciplinary methods into music education, emphasizing the potential benefits of collaboration between music teachers andrnother subject area experts. This research provides valuable insights for educators and curriculum developers seeking to enhance the learning experiences of music students and offers a foundation for further exploration in the field of music education.
