Rajah Adib Reyes | Published: June 04, 2026
Abstract: This survey-descriptive study determined the stages of concern of the respondents towardrnthe adoption of the K to 12 Senior High School Science Curriculum through teachers` responsesrnto the Stages of Concern (SoC) Questionnaire and informal interviews which served as the basesrnin determining the appropriate validated program to assist the teachers through the changernprocess. The study involved 80 SHS Science teachers in the Schools Division of Ilocos Norte.rnThe SoCQ developed by Hall (1987) was used as the main tool in gathering the needed data. Thernstatistical treatments used were frequency counts and percentages.rnResults of the study showed that the Stages of Concern of teachers are varied. Most of thernteachers are still at Stage 1 (Informational) and some are at Stage 6 (Refocusing). Some teachersrnare also at Stage 0 (Awareness), and Stage 2 (Personal) .Results reflected a general lack ofrnknowledge and awareness about the innovation from the teachers and strong personal concernsrnabout what impact it will have on them.rnBased on these results, a validated capability program to address the concerns of teachersrnwas generated. These strategies focus on the need for better information dissemination about therninnovation and for a realistic implementation plan.
