Usefulness Of Modified Strategic Intervention Materials (Msim) In Enhancing The Performance Of The Grade Five Pupils In Science

Abstract: The study focused on the usefulness of Modified Strategic InterventionrnMaterials (MSIM) in enhancing the learning skills of the Grade Five Pupils in Science.rnThe researcher developed a Teacher-Made Test used for the pretest and posttest design.rnThe test was validated by five teachers and twenty five grade V pupils who are not partrnof the study and revise some parts of the test based from suggestions. The researcherrnadministered the instrument at Mangin-Tebeng Elementary School among the identifiedrnexperimental and control group. The study is applying quasi-experimental method usingrnone-shot experimental design. Quasi-experimental method is concern on the internalrnvalidity, because the treatment and control groups may not be comparable at baseline.rnWith random assignment, study participants have the same chance of being assigned tornthe intervention group or the comparison group. The researcher found it appropriate forrnthe study since the study used to estimate the causal impact of an intervention on itsrntarget population; hence, the quasi-experimental method was used. All data gatheredrnwere used for academic purposes and enhancement of instructional materials used inrnteaching Grade V pupils in Science. The statistical tool used in determining thernachievement of the experimental and control group in the post-test results is the studentrnT-Test for independent sample, this type of t-test is used when comparing means of twornindependent groups. The researcher used the statistical packages for social sciencesrn(SPSS 14.0) for the tabulation of the result and manual computation to counter checkrnthe result.The findings indicated a tremendous increase from the result of pretest to thernpost test. Therefore, the modified strategic intervention materials were effective inrnmastering the competency based–skills in Science based on the mean gain scores in thernposttests of the experimental and control groups

Abstract: Hindi maikukubling isa sa pinakamahalagang dapat linangin ng mga mag-aaral \r\nay ang gawaing pagsulat anumang pangkat etniko sila nabibilang sapagkat dito \r\nnasususukat ang kakayahan nila sa pag-unawa, lawak ng pananaw at karanasan sa \r\npaksang susulatin. Isinagawa ang pananaliksik na ito upang tugunan ang mga kahinaan \r\nng mga mag-aaral sa apat na makrong kasanayan sa pagsulat gamit ang Balidong \r\nSanayang Aklat sa Pagsulat. Sa pananaliksik, nagkaroon ng pagpapasulat ng \r\nkomposisyon na binubuo ng pre at post – writing sa labing-anim na mag-aaral. Ginamit \r\nang balidong rubrik sa pagwawasto ng komposisyon upang matukoy ang mga tiyak na \r\nkahusayan at kahinaan ng mga mag-aaral sa pagsulat hinggil sa kasanayang \r\npangnilalaman, pangkayarian, pansemantika, at pansintaks. Ginamit din ang frequency \r\ncount, pagkompute ng simple mean at T-test upang mailahad ang antas at pagkakaiba \r\nng kakayahan ng mga mag-aaral sa sulating pormal (Pre-writing) at muling\r\npagpapasulat (Post-writing). Natuklasang mahina ang antas ng pagsulat ng mga magaaral sa sulating pormal kaya ipinagamit ang balidong Sanayang Aklat sa Pagsulat. Sa \r\npaggamit ng balidong Sanayang Aklat sa Pagsulat umunlad at naging mahusay ang \r\nantas ng kakayahan ng mga mag-aaral sa muling pagpapasulat (Post-writing). Mula sa \r\nnaging resulta, masasabing napakaepektibo ang balidong Sanayang Aklat sa Pagsulat \r\nsa pagpapaunlad ng kakayahang pagsulat ng mga mag-aaral kaya iminungkahi ng \r\nmananaliksik na mahalagang ipagamit ito ng mga guro sa kanilang mga mag-aaral sa \r\npaghubog ng kakayahan sa pagsulat ayon sa kasanayang pangnilalaman,\r\npangkayarian, pansemantika, at pansintaks.

Localizing Instruction in the Grade Schools: A Basis for Intervention

Abstract: The K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum Framework underpins the importance of\r\ncontextualizing instruction (Department of Education, 2014). Amoyen (2017) arguesthat the\r\nbest contextualization endeavors happen in the schools where the learners are, the study\r\n“Localizing Instruction in the Grade Schools: A Basis for Intervention” is geared to maximize\r\nthe benefits of localization by identifying the issues of the teachers, and offering intervention\r\nactivities to localize instruction. Using Frequency and Percentage to establish the awareness of\r\nthe respondents about Contextualization, Weighted Mean - to establish Actual Use (AU) of\r\nLocalization, and Weighted Rank- to determine Challenges in localizing instruction, the study\r\nsurveyed 240 primary grades teachers of the Schools Division of Laoag City. A Five-Point\r\nLikert Scale was used to show frequency of practice indicating AU in Local Materials and Local\r\nInformation. Although the respondents are aware of the concepts of localization, it is unclear to\r\nthem asto which attributes are that of Contextualization, Localization, or Indigenization. During\r\nthe semi-structured interview with School Heads, they concurred to the identified challenges\r\nsaying that teachers do not have much time to localize because of the bulk of curricular and\r\nco- ` curricular activities that they are involved in. Nonetheless, the school heads agree that\r\nlocalization is beneficial to the teaching-learning process. A division workshop on\r\ncontextualization across learning areas is deemed necessary to resolve the problems in localizing\r\ninstruction.
