The faculty of the College of Computing of Pangasinan State University (PSU)– Urdaneta Campus orients the research focal and Information Technology Officers (ITOs) from the 14 Schools Division Offices on the new DepEd Region I Research Portal.

The orientation, initiated by the Policy, Planning and Research Division (PPRD), is held at the Ynad’s Place Hotel and Resort, San Fernando City, La Union on November 9-10, 2023.

The said research portal aims to address the increasing need for data management solutions as the number of completed research piles up every year. It is also a means to improve the dissemination and advocacy of available research studies for utilization of the academic community. The portal could also generate summary reports right at the fingertips for top management analysis and decisions.

The participants were familiarized with the portal environment through the navigation of the system’s features and the creation of SDO accounts. Future enhancements shall include the application for online publication, counter for viewing and citation, and bulk attachment of research records.

Said portal is designed and developed by PSU as part of its extension program. DepEd and the PSU have earlier entered into a Memorandum of Agreement to seal their partnership for collaboration projects.

The PSU faculty who served as trainers were Arni-Rie Tamayo, Rhenel Bernisca, Joshua Reyes, Michael Acosta, Kathleen de Guzman, Kathleen Jane Esteves, Ezralyn Coz, and Christine Lourrine Tablatin.

The DepEd Region I Research Portal shall be fully functional by early 2024.
