Abstract:
This study dealt primarily on the socio-demographic predictors of success in thernPrincipals’ Test in the Schools Division of Urdaneta City. There were 145 participants ofrnrnthe study. They were the 27 Principals’ Test passers and 118 Principals’ Test non-rnpassers. The data were obtained through the use of the researcher-formulatedrnrnquestionnaire. Using descriptive statistics, it was found out that majority of the passersrnwere male, with ages from 31-40 years old, married with one child, graduate ofrneducation-related courses in private colleges/universities, head teachers with a salaryrngrade of 16, and had been in the service for 11-20 years. It was also found out that thernmain reasons why they take the Principals’ Test were the following: for professionalrngrowth and development, to gain financial increase/ advancement and they werernmotivated by colleagues, friends and families. Using binary logistic regression, it wasrnfound out that the significant predictors of success in the Principals’ Test were numberrnof children, years in service before taking the test, position before taking the test, salaryrnbefore taking the test, and number of times taking the test. The study recommendedrnthat Principals’ Test takers should spend time everyday reading management booksrnand possible topics to be given in the test. They should enroll in graduate studies andrnattend seminars and trainings related to management/ leadership. They should alsornhelp/assist their principal in doing their works. Lastly, School heads and teachers shouldrnencourage and give moral support to their colleagues who will take the test.
