Abstract:
This research was conducted to find out the lived classroom experiences of Grade 6 learners in the SY 2019-2020. Specifically, it answered the question a) what are the lived classroom experiences of the grade 6 learners during class discussion and activities? It employed the Descriptive Phenomenological Method of Colaizzi (1978). An informed-consent was signed by the parents prior to the conduct of the study. In-depth interviews with the use of interview notes was employed. Based on the findings of this study, the following conclusions were drawn: 1) the lived classroom experiences of Grade 6 learners of Zigzag Pines Elementary School, Cervantes District during class discussions and activities were affected by the behaviors shown by the learners themselves. 2) Bullying and Laziness during class discussions and activities emerged to be the top behaviors that affect the academic performance of the class. 3) Negative behaviors during class discussions and activities affect the academic performance of the learners. In relation with the findings and conclusion, the following is hereby recommended: 1) Set of classroom rules and interventions to avoid undesirable classroom behaviors that affects academic performance must be strictly established, implemented, and maintained. The result will be shared through INSET and LAC Sessions in the school or in the district.
