Abstract:
Electron configuration of atom is the depiction of the arrangement of electrons distributed among the orbital shells and sub shells. Manipulative electron Distribution Map is best applied to motor learning and requires dexterous management, or control of activities by means of cognition. The diagnostic assessment in General Chemistry I for SHS revealed that the lesson on Electron Configuration is difficult and/or the least mastered by the students, prompting the researchers to seek out new ways to help those who are falling behind in class. The two (2) sections of Grade 11 STEM at Sinait National High School, each with 35 students, were involved in this. The study was conducted using a Quasi-Experimental research design, with the mean and t-test for uncorrelated samples as statistical tools. As a result, Group A (x=6.90) has a higher gain in score with a descriptive rating of “Very Satisfactory” that is higher than Group B with a descriptive rating of “Satisfactory”. Thus, the researchers suggest that, teachers should employ manipulatives extensively in class management. When a kid has something to control, he or she is rarely in trouble.
