Abstract:
Physical education can lead to life changes in terms of improved health, learning accomplishments and the development of positive relationships. The purpose of this quasi-experimental research is to determine the effectiveness of a school-based sports festival in enhancing attitude of students in Health Optimizing Physical Education II of Tagudin National High School during the school year 2017-2018. Consequently, the primary data gathering instrument is a survey questionnaire adopted to the study of Sanes (2009) with a validity of 4.80 and a reliability of 0.95 respectively which was administered among 227 senior high school students. Accordingly, mean and t-test for dependent samples were used as tools for analysis. It was found out that the attitude of the respondents before the school-based sports festival was generally negative while after the intervention their attitude turns positive. Moreover, it is concluded that the school-based sports festival was effective in enhancing the attitude of Senior High School towards Health Optimizing Physical Education II and is recommended for implementation as culminating activity of the subject. Lastly, Physical Education teachers may explore or enhance this intervention for better implementation to enhance the attitude of the students towards Health optimizing Physical Education.
