Abstract:
The study assessed the current practices on the implementation of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene in Schools of the 21 schools in Tagudin District for School Year 2017-2018. The descriptive research design (Edmonds & Kennedy, 2017) shed light to the study. The 21 school heads of Tagudin District were the main source of information. Total enumeration was employed in this investigation. A survey-questionnaire was administered to gather relevant data. All information disclosed was kept confidential and impartiality was observed. Frequency, percentage and mean quantified the results for data analysis. Apparently, the findings which showed very highly attained objectives, highly realized basic requirements and standards, highly executed roles and responsibilities, highly supportive partners and linkages, availability of funds, and implementation of monitoring and evaluation seemingly paved the way towards an effective implementation of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools. The positive result revealed that the minimum health standards was met. It exposed that proper hygiene was exercised by learners and DepEd personnel. Therefore, all schools in the Schools Division of Ilocos Sur must strengthen Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene in Schools to address prevailing and future conditions which are detrimental to the health of learners and DepEd personnel.
