Abstract:
One of the most least mastered competencies in Grade V is the concept on male reproductive system. The purpose of this research is to improve the conceptual understanding on male reproductive system using Strategic Intervention Material (SIM) among Grade V pupils for the school year 2017-2018. It involves 26 boys and 26 girls Grade V pupils of Sinait West Central School. The research used a quasi-experimental design. The statistical tools used to analyze the data gathered were mean, standard deviation and t-test for independent samples. Results of the study found out that Strategic Intervention Material (SIM) is effective in improving the conceptual understanding in male reproductive system. Moreover, the conceptual understanding of respondents improved from poor to very good. Furthermore, the mastery level of the respondents showed a significant improvement after the exposure to the SIM. The research indicated that teachers should use Strategic Intervention Material (SIM) in teaching science concepts proving its significant effect. Hence Strategic Intervention Material (SIM) is recommended to be used as a tool in teaching other concepts in Science and in other learning areas.
