Abstract:
Reading is very vital in the delivery of instruction in the educational process. This study sought to improve the understanding of irregular verbs among Grade III pupils through storyline at Pantay Quitiquit Primary School and Baggoc-P.Quitiquit Elementary School for the School Year 2017-2018. The study employed the one-group pretest and posttest design with a 15-item test on understanding irregular verbs. Moreover, it used the mean, standard deviation, and t-test for independent samples to analyze the data gathered. The results of the study showed that the level of understanding of irregular verbs of the pupils was improved from “needs improvement” to “very good”. Furthermore, the computed t-value showed a significant difference between the pupils’ level of understanding before and after their exposure to storyline. The study concluded that the use of storyline is effective in improving the Grade III pupils’ understanding of irregular verbs. It therefore recommended that storyline be used in teaching irregular verbs.
