Abstract:
Improving the beginning reading literacy of primary learners lays the foundation for reading as they advance to higher grade levels. This research aimed to improve the beginning reading literacy in Filipino of Key Stage 1 learners of Bugnay Elementary School in the school year 2022-2023 by using Interactive eMarungko Material. One-group pretest-posttest design was used in this study since experimental matching is not fit due to the small number of learners in Grades 1-3. The researchers used the Functional Literacy Assessment Tool or FLAT for Filipino Grades 1-3 to assess the reading level of learners in the pretest and posttest. The researchers used weighted mean and T-test for dependent means to analyze the data gathered. The Interactive eMarungko Material was validated by the experts using the LR Validation Tool for Non-Print Materials before it was used to the respondents. Per result, the materials are valid in the 4 criteria of validation: Content, Instructional, Technical, and Others with a description of passed. Data shows that there is an increase in the learner\'s beginning reading literacy level from pretest to posttest using the Interactive eMarungko Material. The learners showed progress after their exposure to the Interactive eMarungko Material, Grade 1 learners moved from letter level to word level, Grade 2 learners from phrase level to paragraph level, while Grade 3 remained at sentence level but showed evidence of progress in terms of statistical data.
